Guy Trombley, Ph.D.

Co-Founder

Guy Trombley, Ph.D. is an applied anthropologist, educator, consultant, and outdoor industry leader with more than 30 years of experience advancing access, equity, and environmental stewardship. Blending a lifelong passion for adventure with a commitment to research, education, and community service, Guy grew up on the edge of prairie and a sugar maple–basswood forest in Minnesota, where his love for nature and outdoor exploration first took root. His family also cared for an 80-acre parcel of boreal forest in northern Minnesota, further grounding his lifelong connection to land and place.

Guy’s life’s work has been dedicated to supporting the technical development and organizational capacity of small nonprofit organizations addressing social, cultural, economic, environmental, and climate-related challenges. Through extensive nonprofit board service, he focuses on applying applied research to inform public policy, develop innovative programs, secure grant funding, and conduct formal evaluation—helping organizations learn their way toward solutions not yet imagined. He has also worked in the for-profit sector as a chief executive, leading the successful renewal, modernization, and rebranding of an outdoor business in Portland, Oregon.
